Gina Mazzone, LISW, LICDC
My name is Gina Mazzone and I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker and Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor. I have a Masters in Social Work from Cleveland State University. I have over 14 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults.
A session with me is a goal-oriented and collaborative environment, though I do allow my clients to take more of a lead in sessions, which facilitates the discovery of their own solutions. I also recognize how the people and systems around my client can have an effect on their wellbeing. I use several different therapy approaches and I adjust based on each individual's needs. I often use methods that help clients examine, understand, and adjust negative thought and behavior patterns. I have some clients who want me to just meet them where they are and work together to tackle current struggles, and I also have clients who want me to assist them with developing a deeper understanding of themselves and the meaning and motivations behind their behavior.
My passion lies in empowering children, teens, and adults to build self-confidence, decrease anxiety, and navigate through many of life’s periods of transition and change. In addition, I have extensive experience working with clients facing legal issues, substance abuse challenges, anxiety, poor school performance, depression, body image issues, LGBTQ+ and self-esteem issues. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my children, hiking, reading, and listening to podcasts.
