Our History
Avenues of Counseling and Mediation, LLC is a private practice offering mental health counseling for children, adolescents, adults, families and couples, divorce/general mediation and chemical dependency counseling. We have two convenient locations in Medina and Akron, Ohio. Avenues’ Medina Office is located just off of the historic Medina Square. Avenues’ Akron Office is in Bath township, in the Ghent Square plaza.
Our Mission
The practice was established in 1999, and serves Medina, Akron, and surrounding communities. In addition to mental health and substance abuse counseling, the Akron office offers holistic forms of treatment, such as Reiki, Hypnotherapy, and Mindfulness, and a variety of other holistic options for your health. Avenues provides counseling in a comfortable, confidential and professional atmosphere to guide individuals through challenges they experience. We have over 40 providers including Marriage and Family Therapists, Chemical Dependency Counselors, Art Therapists, and Psychologists.
Lisa Marie Borchert, M.A.Ed., LPCC, is the owner of Avenues of Counseling and Mediation, LLC. She has a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Akron. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), an independent license issued for counseling by the state of Ohio. She has specialized in marital, relationship, family, and adolescent therapy for 22 years.

New In 2018: Integrative Services at Avenues of Counseling
Over the years, our Counselors began to notice that many clients who work hard in therapy still get sidetracked or hit obstacles on the path to attaining their goals. Sometimes these detours happen because of physical ailments, insomnia, pain, or a medical condition. Watching her clients exert such effort… only to get to an “okay” place in their lives became an inspiration for her to do more.
In late 2018, we opened our wellness center, Vivify Wellness, next to our Akron counseling office. The services and treatments offered at Vivify are an ideal complement to any existing mental health treatment goals. They are also wonderful stand-alone treatments to assist with relaxation, detoxification, reduction of inflammation, and overall wellness. Our goal is to make these holistic options more accessible to the general public, with the research to back it up.
