Heather Shultz, MSW, LISW-S

My name is Heather Shultz and I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervision Designation. I graduated from The Ohio State University with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Human Development and Family Science, and then obtained my Master’s degree in Social Work from Cleveland State University. I have over 15 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families in a variety of treatment settings, as well as experience serving as a clinical supervisor. I am currently accepting clients aged 13 through late adulthood.

I have experience working with a variety of issues, ranging from severe mental illness to everyday challenges, but the clients I enjoy working with most are dealing with issues like anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, relationship issues, stress management and those seeking parenting strategies. I have extensive training in the areas of Trauma Informed Care and Compassion Fatigue and I particularly enjoy working with professional caregivers and first responders to help find balance and manage the stress associated with personal and professional caregiving.

I tailor my counseling sessions to meet your individual needs for the particular challenges you are currently facing in your life. I use a warm, but direct, approach and I like to incorporate humor when appropriate. I recognize that each person has a capacity for change and growth and I help my clients discover their motivation for positive change using a variety of techniques designed to help clients identify and resolve unhealthy thought and behavior patterns; as well as mindfulness tools to help deal with stress, anxiety and depression.

We all face challenges in life and I view therapy as an opportunity to safely explore those challenges in a trusting, non judgemental environment. Whether you are hoping to work through some greater issues, or just simply want to work on personal growth, I view my role as someone you can trust to support you in reaching your personal goals. I know that the idea of therapy can feel uncomfortable for some people and I honor the courage it may have taken for you to explore how it might be helpful for you. I look forward to the opportunity to help you explore how we can work together to help you become the best version of yourself!
