Dr. June Phelps, Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist

Dr. June Phelps is a Clinical Psychologist who has over 20 years of experience providing compassionate care in private practice settings, university counseling centers, community mental health agencies, and hospitals. Before joining Avenues of Counseling and Mediation, Dr. Phelps was the clinical director of the Anxiety Institute in Greenwich Connecticut, an Intensive Outpatient Program that focuses on the treatment of anxiety disorders in adolescents and adults. Dr. Phelps has experience treating all psychological disorders; however, her specialization is the treatment of anxiety disorders (i.e., Obsessive Compulsive Disorder OCD, Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Social Anxiety Disorder, Skin Picking/Trichotillomania, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Specific Phobias) as well as Post-Traumatic-Stress Disorder. Dr. Phelps primarily uses evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, Exposure therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy. She has trained other therapists in these approaches and has supervised practicum and post-doctoral students. Dr. Phelps earned her undergraduate degree from New York University and her master’s and doctoral degrees from The Pennsylvania State University. She completed her American Psychological Association-approved internship at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. She has additional training from the Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) in Exposure and Response Prevention and is certified in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
