Renae Chung, PhD, Clinical Psychologist

My name is Renae K. Chung, and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. I obtained my doctorate from the California School of Professional Psychology, and bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University. With approximately twenty years of experience, I have worked with adolescents, adults, and the elderly population, across different settings (inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient community mental health centers, and as an adjunct instructor at colleges). Previously, I was a director of an award winning outpatient community mental health agency for several years, and prior to this employment, I was a recipient of the Shining Star Award, twice, for outstanding customer service and leadership.

My counseling approach is eclectic, which means that I use a variety of approaches to best meet your unique needs. For example, I may use Solution-Focused modality, which meets you where you are to help you tackle current struggles, or Systems Theory approach - which looks at connections between persons and world, self and others and its effect. However, most of the time, I utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), which involves helping you learn to change negative thought and behavior patterns, and making a positive impact in your life. In addition, if requested, I offer Christian based counseling - which helps incorporate your faith in grief and other troubling life events.

I am currently accepting 17+ clients for teletherapy only, which allows you to connect via video conferencing in the comforts of your home! I have a particular interest in working with people who struggle with depression, anxiety, relationship conflicts, academic stress, and life transition\adjustment hardships. I also have expertise in cross cultural counseling, trauma informed care, and in working with adults who struggle with ADHD.

I have a passion for what I do, and I truly enjoy building therapeutic relationships, getting to know you personally, and developing trust with the goal of restoring the spirit, soul, and body to health and healing.
