Kelsey Houlahan, M.Ed, LPCC-S

My name is Kelsey Houlahan, and I am an LPCC-S. I have a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University. I have experience in counseling children, adolescents, and adults, though I am currently only accepting clients ages 13+.

My approach to therapy focuses on the adverse events that we all experience in life including when it started, how you felt about it, and how those difficult times continue to affect you currently. Additionally, I focus not only on your thoughts and feelings about hardships, but also how your body experiences these events. Bringing awareness to the connection between your mind and body is an effective therapy approach that is backed by research.

In addition to working with people with a variety of different mental health or substance concerns, I am an EMDR trained therapist currently working towards EMDR certification level, with a dissociation-focused approach (sometimes known as Internal Family Systems or “parts work”). I also have a special interest in working with women, including mothers in any stage of the motherhood journey (i.e. pregnancy, pregnancy loss, infertility, postpartum, empty-nester).

Outside of the therapy office, I spend most of my time with my family and my dog, Honey. Music is a lifeline for me and an essential part of my every day.
