Counseling for Depression
No two people experience depression the exact same way. Some people with depression may feel a general unhappiness or emptiness which doesn’t have an explanation. On the more severe end, depression can make it a challenge for some people to go to work, eat, sleep or take pleasure in activities in life that were once enjoyable.
Counseling for Anxiety
Anxiety can appear in different forms and at different levels of intensity. It includes physiological, behavioral, emotional, and cognitive components. Anxiety can be caused by stress and occur without a triggering event or situation. It can range from a mere twinge of uneasiness to a full blown panic attack. It can create feelings of fear, worry and dread.
Counseling for Grief
Grief can be a complex emotion. It can feel all-encompassing, and often people also feel anger, confusion, guilt and shame when grieving a loss. This ‘loss’ is not only referencing the death of a loved one or friend. Life changes like divorce, or the loss of a job can also bring about grief. Every grieving person’s experience is unique. Nor is there a ‘proper way’ to grieve.
Counseling for Couples
Even when people get along really well, stress and daily life can cause conflicts that seem difficult or even impossible to resolve. Relationship counseling can help people in these tough situations to work through their problems, move beyond them, and be better partners overall.
Counseling for Families
We don’t get to choose our families, however. While many people grow up in a family with healthy relationships, there are many who do not. Those born into a dysfunctional family may struggle with communication, parenting, boundaries and other areas later in life.
Additional Services
In addition to treating children, adolescents, adults, couples and families, our compassionate and experienced counselors in Akron, Ohio work with a variety of mental health concerns.
