How Is the Gottman Retreat Different From Couples Therapy?

The retreat differs from traditional couples therapy in several ways, and it can offer more condensed guidance in a shorter period of time.

  • Focus on Education and Skill-Building: The Gottman retreat doesn't delve into past issues, it’s more focused on education and skill-building. Participants learn specific strategies and techniques for strengthening their relationship that can be applied immediately.

  • Structured Format: Gottman retreats follow a very structured format. This approach ensures that couples receive comprehensive guidance on all aspects of building a healthy marriage within a relatively short period of time.

  • Intensive Immersion: Unlike traditional therapy, which may involve weekly or bi-weekly sessions spread out over a longer period of time, our Gottman retreat provides an intensive immersion experience, which can accelerate the learning process and facilitate deeper insights and breakthroughs.

  • Practical Exercises and Activities: Gottman retreats incorporate a variety of practical exercises, activities, and role-plays designed to help couples apply the principles they're learning in real-time. These hands-on experiences can deepen understanding, foster connection, and promote lasting change.
