Diane J.  Maytas, LPCC, ATR, CHT

Biography: I began my educational journey earning a Bachelor’s in Art Education from Youngstown State University. I became eager to branch out into Art Therapy after observing the healing that occurred for so many during their artistic process. I have also always been deeply interested in the study of the brain and the effect the mind has on the physical body. My two passions, art and neuroscience, became the foundation of my thesis at Ursuline College where I earned a Master’s in Counseling and Art Therapy.

I seek to increase my clients’ self-awareness by helping them understand the connection between their emotional thought and their physical self, and I empower them by teaching grounding techniques to self-regulate. I practice a holistic, eclectic, spiritualistic approach utilizing Cognitive Behavioral interventions (CBT), coping skills derived from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) along with a variety of expressive therapies such as art therapy, guided image, and mindfulness. My specialties include treatment for anxiety, trauma, stress management, women’s issues, relationships, phase of life, separation, divorce, and group work. I am also currently working on my EMDRIA Certification.

Art remains a healing force in my own life as well. I love to create, spend time with my family, cook, bake, and exercise my green thumb- all of which are grounding interventions! Through the years, I’ve combined the knowledge I’ve gathered through energy healing and the mind-body connection to guide my clients on their own path to enlightenment.
