Kelsey McCoy, M.S., LMFT

Biography

My name is Kelsey McCoy, and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, with a bachelor’s degree from Mount Union and a master’s degree from Purdue University. I am married, have two young children of my own, and am continually working to find balance between all of my caretaking roles. Since beginning my career in 2011, I have enjoyed working with a vast array of clients, including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and whole families. No matter who enters the room, my aim is always to make the person feel affirmed and to provide a secure emotional base for them to begin making necessary changes in their life. I use a trauma-informed approach to be considerate of the history and life circumstances of my clients (because we all have had situations in life that have left a mark on us, no matter how big or small), and I work in a systemic fashion (taking into account all of the related parties in someone’s life) in hopes of fostering lasting change throughout a person’s social network. It is my belief that through conversation with a trusted individual, we can come to see our problems in a new way and find solutions that did not seem to be there before, and yet I also include various therapeutic strategies centered on altering a person’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I am adept at fitting my clients’ needs, whatever they may be, and altering my approach and skills to match the presenting problem in the room on any given day. It is incredibly fulfilling to work alongside my clients fostering growth and change, and I would be honored to be included in your personal journey when you decide the time is right.
