Biography

I have earned a Master of Arts in Counseling and Art Therapy from Ursuline College. I am also currently a supervising Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor, Board Certified Art Therapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist. In addition to having a certification in CBT-I, cognitive behavioral therapy for Insomnia, I am an EMDR trained therapist. I am an adjunct professor at Ursuline College, teaching and supervising clinical and internship students.

I have worked for 10 years in community mental health, both in residential and outpatient treatment, which focused on treating chemical dependency and mental health issues with adult men and women. I have been working in private practice since March 2016, treating individuals but also developing groups for women to help to empower their lives. My passion is helping to heal the whole individual by utilizing both traditional and non-traditional therapies which include art therapy, EMDR therapy, hypnotherapy, meditation, mindfulness, and reiki. My specialty of integrating creative and holistic therapies with verbal therapy has helped to treat people with a variety of mental health issues to include: anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, PTSD, and substance abuse. I utilize several theories of counseling to include client-centered, cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT, EMDR, and psychotherapy.

I believe that the therapeutic process is a journey that the client embarks upon, with myself as a guide, to work toward healing the deep wounds of the past, so that they may move freely forward toward a new future.
