ADHD: An Overview

In this workshop you will:

1. Identify DSM-V criteria for all three subtypes of ADHD
2. Explain all the essential deficits of ADHD
3. Explain all the functional deficits of ADHD
4. Identify the secondary symptoms of ADHD: Behavioral, cognitive/learning, social functioning, emotional and physical.
5. Identify the etiology of ADHD.
6. Understand the potential areas of impairment associated with ADHD: School/academics, interpersonal relationships, trouble with the law, substance abuse disorders, injuries, motor vehicle accidents, occupational/vocational.
7. Identify the differential diagnoses (medical and psychiatric) involving ADHD.
8. Understand the co-morbidities of ADHD.
9. Overview of treatment options (Behavioral treatment, environmental management, alternative treatments, medication.)

Pictorial Narratives represent a narrative-informed, constructiveness experiential intervention that facilitates meaning creation through the use of client-generated and client-interpreted drawings of their presenting problem as well as their preferred outcome.

 

 

The People Around the Client: How To Effectively and Ethically Involve the Spouses, Parents and Children of Your Client

 

This CEU is run by Marty Laska, LPCC-S, LICDC-S, ACHT and being held from 9 am to 12:15 pm on August 18, 2017. The cost of this workshop is $60 in total for 3 CEUs.

This training meets Ethics standards for the State of Ohio in meeting Confidentiality, Non-maleficence and Respect for Persons. How to involve and/or address the concerns of family members of minors and adults while respecting the legal and ethical rights of the client. Assisting the client in forming flexible but firm boundaries with family and significant others when it comes to sharing their discoveries in therapy.

As a Clinician, hearing your patients say they are “not sleeping” and “haven’t slept”, can be daunting to try to tease out the issue. As well as feeling like this is the obstacle interfering with the progress they are making managing other symptoms.

This Seminar will:
1. Outline multiple ways to set up for successful sleep.
2. Review techniques that are new for therapists to consider.
3. Understand how sleep is learned and taught.
4. Testimonies of people, who now find, these new Cognitive Behavioral Techniques do the trick for getting Z’s.
5. “We are what we eat.”  Being whole, healthy, natural and free of chemicals.
6. Are Vitamins necessary….the ongoing controversy between doctors. What can we offer?
7. Looking at possible deficiencies as culprits to low mood and anxiety.
8. Finding a hobby you look forward to each day.
